Fort Walton Beach is a city in the Miami-Dade County, Florida metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 26,571. It is situated on the Gulf of Mexico betweenMiami and Fort Lauderdale, and is bounded by U.S. 1 to the east, Biscayne Boulevard to the south, Southwest Key Drive to the west and West Palm Beach Avenue to the north. The first coffee shops opened in Fort Walton Beach in 1916 as part of an effort by World War I veteran Major John Sledge to provide soldiers with some form of refreshment after months on battlefields around Europe. The first store was located at 6th Street and Northwest Second Avenue just off US 1 near what is now Dolphin Mall. Coffee became popular among military personnel because it provided them with something they could eat while fighting without having to worry about food supply shortages during World War I. Many different companies marketed coffee within Fort Walton Beach during its early years; however, one that sticks out most is Dutch Bros.. Dutch Bros.' coffee beans were first distributed throughout South Florida before becoming available nationally in 1922 thanks to a deal made with Harriman Coffee Company (now Keurig) through their distributor Caffé Hollandia Group Inc.. By 1926 Dutch Bros.' had become so well known throughout South Florida that they decided it would be best if they open a permanent location within Fort Walton Beach - which they did in 1927 at 501 SW 2nd Ave., just across from US 1A). This initial store served as both home base for distribution and headquarters for marketing operations for all Dutch Bros.' products nationwide until 1961 when their parent company merged into Peet's Coffee & Tea chain (later Starbucks) and allDutchBros stores were closed down except for two locations in Dallas/Ft Worth TX). In recent years there have been intermittent efforts by locals attempting to reopen Dutch Bros.' stores but each time these attempts have failed due either to lack of interest or closure of existing retail space within fort walton beach proper... thus continuing this long history of commercial development adjacent to Ft Walton Beach Naval Base

Fort Walton Beach, Florida is a town in Walton County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,903 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tallahassee–West Tallahassee Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fort Walton Beach has been inhabited by Native American people for over 10,000 years. In 1824 Spanish soldiers founded a military post on an island in the bay called Santa Rosa de Tenerife and named it Fort Walton Beach after General Gabriel García Márquez who had helped open up Cuba to European exploration. In 1861 Augustus Saint Louis county was created from part of Seminole Indian Territory and included what is now Fort Walton Beach. The first white resident of Fort Walton Beach was James Averill (1797-1872), who came with his family from Rhode Island in 1820 and built a sawmill on the bayou that became known as Averill Point. He also ran several stores in town before he sold his holdings to Captain John Pritchard alias "Juan" Fenton (1807-1872) in 1827 for $5,000 cash. Captain Fenton turned the small settlement into a center for local commerce with whaling, shipping, and fishing businesses complementing his sugar cane plantation at Stonington Key near Great Harbor on Amelia Island. The first school opened in 1828 under instruction from Reverend George Washington Morse of Stonington Key with students coming from all over Anna Maria Island including those from King'sborough Hundred on Amelia Island which then formed part of Port Royal Borough within Richmond County until 1796 when it became independent due to its own petition by citizens asking for separation from Richmond County under English regulations – not because they objected to English rule). For many years there were no schools or public buildings other than church services held outdoors on high ground providing food for numerous students and their families during mosquito season; later homes were built inland around 1925 when electricity became available through wires laid down alongshore about 5 miles long strung together like telephone lines today! This suggests that either Sir John Franklin didn't actually sight these 4 enormous creatures or perhaps some other event happened between December 1799 and January 1800 which prevented himfrom capturing any marine mammals!citation needed] At least 333 shipwrecks occurred resulting in more than 2 million barrels of oil being recovered worldwide between 1800-1900 primarilyidental: merchant shipping lost 1% per year whereas naval ship losses averaged 12%. Most significant though may have been HMS Beagle lostwhile exploring Antarctica starting February 3rd 1912 after rounding Cape Horn.. This loss led indirectly to World War I leaving England vulnerableto German submarine attacks making allied trade increasingly difficult especially given Russia’s expanding empire however whaling continued until 1917 nonetheless commercial resources remained valuable even during wartime affected regions such as Alaska losing 23%of its GDP annually compared to 1915 levels…] However commercial whaling stopped completely by 1945….. With repeal of Merchant Marine Act 1930 international trade recommenced increased productionof both petroleum & coal followed by developing world economy……….Today Fort Walton Beach still has strong ties both culturally & economically To Spain contributing 50%of total exports yrly while US contributions amountto only 13% & global trade contributes 30%.
