Fort Pierce, Florida is the center of Gourmet Coffee history in the United States. The city began to grow coffee beans as early as 1846 when Captain Daniel Webster purchased a small plot of land in what is now Fort Pierce. From this small start, Fort Pierce's coffee industry flourished and has continued to do so ever since. Today, Fort Pierce is home to many different coffee businesses that offer unique and delicious cup of coffee. Some of these businesses include: Dutch Bros., Caffeinee's Café, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Dark Horse Coffee Co. It should also be noted that there are several coffee roasters in the city that offer fantastic cups of java every day including Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Caribou Coffee Company, Peet's Coffee & bakery, and more. In addition to all this great flavor and variety, Fort Pierce also boasts some amazing architecture which includes: the USS Constitution Museum which features an amazing collection of naval memorabilia; the Crescent City Brewing Company which was once one of the largest breweries in America; and most importantly – Gourmet Coffee History Museum! TheMission San Francisco Coffee Roasters flagship café features an entire menu devoted to gourmet coffee, including roasts from Sumatra, Kenya, and Ethiopia. These coffees are roasted fresh on site in small batches using only the finest materials. Perhaps the most distinctive trait of a gourmet cup of coffee is its smooth texture and intense flavor. This comes from two factors: first, the beans are roasted specifically for this type of roast; second, these coffees are roasted with very little Dark Roast content or bitterness – meaning that they have been left unrestrained by those harsh chemicals common in many other types of beans. Instead, these coffees contain notes of smoky oakwood and sweet spices. The Fort Pierce Coffee Company was founded in 1903 by George and Mary Kapp. The company grew rapidly and soon became known for its high-quality coffee. In 1912, the company moved to its current location, which is now the former Hulman Brewery building on Third Street in Fort Pierce.

The fort at Fort Pierce was built in 1815 and became a military post in 1865. It is now a museum dedicated to history and culture. The history of coffee begins with the Arabs who drank it as a drink to comfort their tired eyes in the morning. The first recorded mention of coffee is from Ibn Battuta, who wrote in his travelogue about an Arab trader named al-Qadir who visited Ethiopia in 1241 and found coffee growing there. Coffee was also mentioned by Marco Polo in his travels around Asia in the 12th century. Coffee began to be traded between Europe and Africa long before it reached America. In 1519, Portuguese traders discovered Brazil and brought coffee with them, which changed the course of world trade. Brazilian merchants decided to import more coffee than they could sell at home so that they could hoard it for themselves and make money on the market. This caused a great demand for coffee all over Europe, which finally led to its spread to North America during the Dutch period (1620-1795). During this time, European explorers discovered new lands such as South America and Australia, which introduced new crops and methods of production into Northeast Asia. As these regions developed economically, people started discovering different flavors of coffee that allowed for unique blends and roasts that are still popular today. For example, Ethiopian Akebia beans were used to produce Kenyan Kahlúa while Guatemalan Antioquia beans produced Sumatra Mocha. Eventually, global trade led to contact between different cultures and humans began exchanging food items such as meat along with beverages like tea and cocoa. Coffee became known as one of the world’s most important drinks because it provides energy throughout the day while helping people stay awake during difficult times or when traveling abroad.
The first gourmet coffee beans were grown in the fertile soils of the Andes Mountains by a team of farmers in 1912. The coffee was roasted and ground for export to Europe and the United States. In 1938, Dutch Roasting Company opened its first roastery in Amsterdam, which became one of the world's leading coffee roasters. In 1972, Swiss Coffee roamed from Zürich to Basel with their own espresso cafe. By the early 1990s, Starbucks had taken over many of these independent grocers' operations as well, leaving behind a legacy of quality and innovation in gourmet coffee retailing.
Fort Pierce was founded in 1821 by Captain John St. Clair, a French Canadian commandant who had been detached from the British army to help guide Seminole Indian warriors through the area. The fort was named for Christian Fort on Miami River, which was also the site of a previous Spanish settlement. The first permanent settler at Fort Pierce was James Cranch, who arrived in 1826. Cranch and his wife, Sarah Goodloe, were the only white people to live at Fort Pierce when it was established. In 1830, Fort Pierce became part of Florida and its governor became an armistice commissioner with jurisdiction over all of Florida except Pensacola. In 1850, the United States acquired Florida from Spain and renamed it after President James K. Polk; Fort Pierce remained under U.S military jurisdiction until 1898 when it reverted back to Spanish control. During that time, Ft. Pierce experienced a period of growth as both a naval base and commercial center due to its strategic location between two major river mouths: the St Johns River to the north and Tampa Bay to the south. In 1905-1906, during preparations for World War II, Fort Pierce underwent a comprehensive renovation which included erection of new buildings including an airfield (now known as St Cloud Airport), artillery battery (now known as Battery Saint John), harbor facilities (now known as PortMiami Beach) and auxiliary landing fields (now known as Palm Beach County). This project also added several thousand square feet to Ft. Pierce's original downtown core while preserving much of its historical architecture including churches, residences and businesses dating back more than 250 years
Fort Pierce was founded in 1835 by the United States Navy as a coastal fortification to protect the Florida Keys. The fort served as a base of operations for American vessels and men during both the Seminole Wars and the First World War. The fort was decommissioned in 1943 and is now used as a state park.
