Bartow, Florida is a small town in the unincorporated community of Bartow,Florida on the eastern coast of Polk County. It is located about 20 miles (32 km) north-northwest of Jacksonville and about 25 miles (40 km) south-southwest of Miami. The population was 5,711 at the 2000 census. A post office called Bartow was established in 1828, and became part of Jacksonville in 1833.
