The United States Air Force's 375th Fighter Wing, part of the 4th Fighter Division based in New London, Connecticut, is one of the most decorated units in the USAF. The wing has earned more than 50 medals and awards, including nine Distinguished Unit Citations (DUCs). The unit was also named to four National Defense Authorization Acts (NDAA) during its history-making years as a wing. The 375th FW traces its history back to World War II when it was activated as the 307th Fighter Group at North Branford Army Air Field, Connecticut on Dec. 15, 1942. It served with distinction in both World War II and the Korean War before being re-activated as the 379th FG at Holloman AFB, New Mexico on Jan. 1, 1957. The group became operational again at Misawa AB Japan on Feb. 3rd and flew combat missions until July 1959 when it moved to Inchon AB Korea where it remained until September 1961 when it returned to Holloman AFB for an extended period of time before relocating once again to Japan for operations over Southeast Asia from October 1962 through May 1966 while elements supported U.S.-backed South Vietnam efforts against North Viet Cong insurgents. After hostilities ended in South Vietnam and the wing returned home on May 6, 1966*, the 379th FG operated from Iwakuni AB Japan conducting aerial refueling operations over Okinawa until August 1969(*). During its time here however*], members of the wing also earned their illustrious DUC for actions flown during Operation Rolling Thunder which targeted Pakistani airfields near Dhaka beginning on Aug 20-Sept 5 1968*. After returning home from Okinawa*, this unit began assignment at Kirtland AFB NM from Dec 1971-Feb 1972(*). There they flew aggressor aircraft participate in Operation Linebacker I which struck enemy targets within Saudi Arabia April 10-15 1973(*). From there they were reassigned to Seymour Johnson AFSC *]MARCH 1976 – APRIL 1978(*)] where they flew F/A-18 Hornets engaged in strikes against terrorist targets throughout Yemen June 25 – JULY 1976(*), operation Desert Storm November 17‑20 1991 (*), and ground support operations during operation Noble Eagle January 24 - February 2 1993(*). On March 14 1977*, after almost 26 years active duty as a fighter squadron*], Headquarters 377 FW changed venue *]WESTERN NEW LONDON COUNTY – NEW LONDON COUNTY AIR FORCE BASE*] due to allegations that UAPB Bomber Pilot Lt Col Clarence Evers had been sexually assaulted by then Captain Michael Sussa while serving with Headquarters 367 FW.*] This action resulted in Colonel Evers being placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into his allegations and ultimately his discharge from service effective Apr 1st 1977*. Withdrawal orders followed immediately upon Colonel Evers' departure effective Mar 31st 1977*. Since hte squadron's activation Commander Maj George Pappas assumed command effective May 1st 1977]. The first commanding officer of this unit was Major General Donald J Wiegand who served concurrently with First Lieutenant Gerald Finkler prior to assuming command July 1st 1990*. On or about Nov 12 1998 Capt John Hennessey transferred from Headquarters 367 FW [*}to 376 FAW[>]in order assume command of this unit effective november 1998 *. On or about Jan 9 2001 Capt William Kappas [*}transferred from 376 FAW [*}to 378 FAW[]]in order assume command of this unit effective january 2001 *. New London, Connecticut is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 31,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York–Newark–Bridgeport Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent European settlement in what is now New London was made on December 12, 1692 by Major John Smith and his company of 300 Englishmen under the leadership of Colonel GeorgeWayne. The town was named for Sir Nicholas Northumberland (1563-1636), 1st Baronet and Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony from 1685 to 1701. Northumberland had arrived in Hartford on November 29th of that year with £10 reconnaissance money from England to explore possible settlements west of the Merrimack River. In 1714, when John Trumbull became governor of Connecticut, he recommended that the state be divided into townships and Trumbull township be formed in northwest Hartford Township around what is now Main Street. That same year, Jameson & Goodwin platted their landowning corner called “East Windsor” north of present day Thames Street between Union Avenue and State Road 14B near what is now Bradley Park. In 1720 Samuel Atherton patented lot #4 at modern day Main Street and Thames Street; this tract later became known as East Windsor Heights development due to its location within the limits proposed by Jameson & Goodwin for their new township plan

Today, the USAF operates more than 100 aircraft fleets and employs more than 120,000 personnel worldwide. The AFSSA provides intelligence support to US armed forces around the world through activities such as counter-terrorism operations and global peacekeeping missions. Additionally, AFSSA provides education opportunities for airmen and their families across all branches of service. In 2015 alone, AFB SSSA generated over $1 billion in economic impact for our community by supporting local businesses throughout Southwest Florida!

New London, Connecticut is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 24,545 at the 2010 census. It lies on the New Haven River and is part of the Hartford–New London Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now New London were Dutch traders in 1630. The area that became New London was first settled by Quakers in 1701. The town's name comes from "Nova Londiniensis," a Latin phrase meaning "new London." The town was incorporated as a village on November 14, 1809, and became a borough on January 1, 1907. On October 30, 1835, it merged with the neighboring towns of Milford and West Hartford to form the new municipality ofHartford. In 1899 it again merged with West Hartford to form the new municipality ofNewLondon. On July 3rd, 1903 – just one week after President Theodore Roosevelt's celebrated speech at Groton School – New London residents successfully petitioned for incorporation as an independent city under his leadership as governor of Connecticut; this event has been called "the birth of our city." Incorporation was granted on October 2nd and officially began on October 10th with Mayor James Atherton presiding over ceremonies located in City Hall (now known as Stamford Hall)on Main Street across from Westminster Abbey (then Holmes Chapel). NewLondon soon started to grow rapidly due to its proximity to major metropolitan areas including Boston and Buffalo while still maintaining many small-town values such as prohibitionism and avoidance of costly investments in outside businesses which would have disrupted local communities around them. istockphoto/Getty Images Census data compiled by UIG via GIS software show that during 2000-2010 there has been an overall decrease (−5%) in population density within the boundaries of New London Borough which includes much land formerly belonging to Milford & West Hartford wards (as well as portions annexed into both cities between 1900-1910 inclusive). However this decrease can be partially attributed to loss or displacement by recent development within those boundaries such as Interstate 95 construction within less than one mile boundary

It is part of the Hartford-West Hartford Metropolitan Statistical Area. New London's first settler was John Nicholson in 1664.
