During Prohibition, prostitution became rampant in Steamboat Springs due to its high demand for alcohol-free prostitutes from other states; however, this didn’t last long because after repeal of prohibition many businesses did not follow suit and Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority inspectors quickly shut down many brothels. In 1937 the area developed into one of the more active gay districts in western Colorado thanks to advances concerning sex education during World War II. Many famous drag queens came out ofsteamboatsprings through this period such as Divine (1937-1975), Lady Bunny (1945-1978), Bianca Del Rio (1973-1999) and Miss Piggy (1963-1996). A major event leading up to Gay Pride Month took place on July 10th –the first time that this event occurred consecutively throughout all five boroughs across New York City –in honor of those lost during AIDS resistant “The war on drugs” which at that time included much of southern California etc., but also Notably Lesbian/Gay rights movement growth throughout U S over past few decades!

Steamboat Springs is a city in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. The population was 6,953 at the 2010 census. Steamboat Springs is part of the Denver–Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Mead and on the west bank of the Arkansas River. The first permanent white person to live in Steamboat Springs was Jacob Sutter in 1875. Sutter's Ranch became known as "Sutter's Fort" because he used it as a winter quarters for his army garrison during the American Civil War. In 1882, James Henschel purchased land east of town from Sutter and named it Henschel Park after him. The settlement grew rapidly around Henschel Park and soon there were stores, hotels, and other businesses core to what would become Steamboat Springs today. The first school in town was built near where Main Street now stands in 1887 by Mrs. Gertrude Waxman under a grant from President Chester Aiden Booth Jr.. The first post office opened in 1889 at 715 E 4th Ave., also called "Sutter's Corner." By 1910, there were more than 20 businesses operating in Steamboat Springs with an estimated population of 5,000 people! Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid rode into town on their horse ambulance during an attack on Pinedale Wells Fargo station on September 16, 1916 while being transported by stagecoach from Dead Horse Canyon to Carson City via Asotin Valley National Monument – one of only two such attacks ever mounted against public targets within U.S borders that year! In 1924, Jack Benny hosted his nationally televised television show from Studio 54 here before moving permanently to Hollywood Tower Gardens later that year! On November 3rd of that year (the same day), World Wars I & II veteran Admiral John Jellicoe delivered short remarks honoring local war heroes at Central High School before boarding his battleship USS Missouri for her maiden voyage off Taiwan! Over time many events have taken place here including world records set at various sports venues like Ski Hill Ski Resort (now Aspen ski resort) (1948), Mtn Dew Speedway (1978), Telluride Bowl Ski Resort (1996), Quench restaurant & bar (2001), High Rock Casino Hotel & Spa (2005) etc., but most notably homecoming weekends each August when all hometown kids come down to town for some much needed rest and relaxation before heading back upcountry again next week!
