Steamboat Springs has had a long and varied history with the sea. The first Europeans to visit the area were fur traders in the mid-18th century. Steamboats started docking at the local river mouth in 1857, and by 1870, Steamboat Springs had become a popular resort town. The first marine gift history comes from Captain John Sutter of the "Saratoga" in 1868. He brought gifts of fisheries products to the town for distribution among his passengers. By 1880, there was an extensivemarine gift trade taking place in Steamboat Springs. In 1902, Steamboat Springs became part of Colorado and acquired its own Marine Station (now NOAA's Pacific Marine station). This led to increased maritime gift traffic through Steamboat Springs due to its proximity to international shipping lanes. In 1907, steamboats began providing passenger service between Denver and San Francisco; this added even more impetus to the burgeoning marine gift industry in Steamboat Springs! From 1912 until 1916, Captain Clarence King operated a coast guard vessel called "The Princess". This Vessel carried gifts of seafood products back and forth between Marinette Island and San Francisco dockyards. During World War II, many military personnel stationed at nearby Ft Carson used their spare time to build46 large floats called PT boats that transported supplies upsteam into Mountain Lakes Reservoir on Fort Carson's east side. These float stores sold various goods such as uniforms, gasoline cans, cigarettes and other items needed by troops stationed at Ft Carson during World War II. Many marines who served during WWII would later go on to start their own businesses around town such as King's Marina or J&J Peddles Repair Shop which still stands today across from Dos Equis Brewery - one of Steamboat SPRings most iconic landmarks!

Steamboat Springs is a small town located in Weld County, Colorado, United States. It is the county seat of Weld County and home to the Steamboat Springs Convention Center. The population was 9,865 at the 2010 census. The first settlement in what is now Steamboat Springs was made by settlers in 1876. A post office was established there on July 20, 1876, and remained in operation until it was discontinued on October 15, 1907. Steamboat Springs became a city on December 3, 1913. At its peak population it had a total of 507 residents. That number decreased to 472 by the end of 1916; however, it increased back up to 511 by 1920 before dropping back again to 489 by 1924. In 1938 Steamboat Springs voters approved an ordinance that created a city park for the community center which still occupies most of its original location today (the current convention center being built in 1966). On July 6th 1914 USS "Colorado" sank during World War I off of coast of California about northwest of Steamboat Springs when her crew sighted oil wells outbound from Baja California Mexico on their way back from delivering fuel and other supplies to American troops fighting in that war effort. The wreck remains one of America's most interesting maritime mysteries and is currently open for tours as part of the Golden State Maritime Museum's San Francisco Cruise program

Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a small town located in Weld County, Colorado, just south of the junction of Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 6. The population was 784 at the 2010 census. Steamboat Springs was founded in 1875 by settlers from Denver who had been forced out of their homes during the American Civil War. The community became known for its hot springs, which contributed to its nickname "The Spa City." The first post office in Steamboat Springs was established in 1876 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. The present day Steamboat Springs Community School District was organized on December 1, 1954. In 1907, the city fathers voted to name their city after John Custer's Last Stand at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument; however, this nomination did not receive enough signatures to be put forward for consideration by the United States government. In 1962, voters passed a resolution requesting that the name change to "Steamboat Springs" due to its importance as a center for water skiing and snowboarding tourism within the state of Colorado; however, this request was not acted upon until 1978 when a new ordinance changed the name of all public schools in Weld County from "steamboats" to "steamboats_springs". On February 3rd of that year (1978), President Jimmy Carter made an appearance at Steamboat Springs Municipal Airport while on his way to attend Englewood Cliffs ski resort near Englewood Villageement - his only visit outside of Washington D.C., during his two terms as president. At that time,[2] local businesses were still using steamboats as their primary means of transportation because they were more efficient than horses or cars and took less time than traveling by train or bus. AfterCarter's visit, Air Force One used Steamboat Springs Municipal Airport as its landing strip during Operations Desert Storm I and II (1990-1991). On July 15th 2006 Mayor Bill Roggio declared July 16th National Water Skiing Day in honor of all those who have helped promote water skiing around our community over the years including such luminaries as Don Freeman (founder/owner/director), Dick Werner (co-founder/president), Russ Kappelmayer (founder/director), Rick Raschke (founder/director), Bob Cooksey(owner) & Bob Weiser(manager). As part of International Waterskating Federation’s “Water Skiing America” program we are honoring Olympic gold medalists Joe Mantegna & Curt Hundley with plaque unveiling ceremonies on Saturday evening at 9pm sharp inside Gopher Hill Resort following their participation in US Nationals held last weekend at Keystone Lake Park
Steamboat Springs was founded in 1868 as a stagecoach stop on the Animas River. The town became a popular resort area for people from all over Colorado and Wyoming. The first steamboats that arrived in Steamboat Springs were built by John D. Rockefeller, Sr. in 1898. In 1904, the village of Steamboat Springs incorporated and began to develop into a thriving community with its own school system, library, post office, theater and other businesses. By 1910, the population of Steamboat Springs had reached 1,500 residents and it was already one of the most prosperous towns in western Colorado. In 1922, the Village of Steamboat Springs merged with the City of Denver to form a larger city called Denver-Aurora-Steamboat Springs. The growth of Denver-Aurora-Steamboat Springs led to increased traffic on the Animas River and it became necessary to build more bridges and crossings to accommodate this increase in traffic. This led to the construction of two additional bridges over the Animas River - One near present day Commerce City and another near downtown Steamboat Springs – giving Steamboat Springers much needed access across the river without having to go through Denver or Aurora
