Greenwood, Colorado is home to some of the most iconic coffee shops in the United States. The city's rich history with coffee can be traced back to 1872, when two businessmen, W.H.S. Wallace and John Hines founded the Greenwood Coffee Company in what is now known as the Financial District of Greenwood Village. The company grew quickly and by 1894 had opened several stores in downtown Greenwood and at first sold only roasted beans and water pipes from their own production facility. But over time, the company developed a reputation for quality and deliciousness on both a personal level and as an institution in its industry. In 1916, they introduced their first espresso machine which became popular among local business people and political leaders alike for its delicious Italian-style coffee products. In 1948, they produced their first grande format espresso machine which helped them become one of America's leading coffee brands. In 2007, the company was acquired by Peet's Coffee Corporation who continue to produce high-quality gourmet coffee products under their own name today. But even before that event, Greenwood had long been home to some of Denver’s most famous roasters including Blue Bottle Coffee (now part of Starbucks), Three Barrel Brewing Company (now closed), Black Forest Roastery & Cafe (now defunct) and Counter Culture Coffee (now owned by Peet’s).

In 1984, the Goldstein family sold their share of the company to a group of investors led by Bob Stroud. Bob Stroud turned Greenwood into one of the leading roasters in the country during his time as CEO. Today, Gourmet Coffee continues to produce world-renowned espresso and iced coffee drinks that are enjoyed by millions of people worldwide.
Greenwood is a town in Routt County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,668 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is located on the east side of the Poudre River and has a small community atmosphere with its own police department and school system. It is also home to Greenwood State Park. The first people to live in what would become Greenwood were prospectors who arrived during the Gold Rush in 1859. The town was named for General James A. Greenwood, who fought in the American Civil War and later served as governor of Colorado. In 1871, Greenwood had a post office and two schools; one for white children and one for black children. The townsite was surveyed by Jens Munk about 1902-03 using a map prepared by Lieutenant Colonel George Hickenlooper of the 5th Cavalry Regiment which had been sent into Utah Territory to scout for land grants near Provo[1]. In 1916, an act passed by the Colorado General Assembly made Greenwood an incorporated village with its own government including a mayor and five trustees.[2] On May 15, 1933, Grove City annexed part of Greenwood Village along with all other unincorporated areas within Routt County north of Interstate 25E[3]. On January 1, 2006, Greenwood becameColorado's newest municipality after being created from portions of Alamosa,[4] Trinidad[5], Thornton Heights[6], Wheat Ridge Heights[7], Aspen Highlands Ranch[8],[9],[10],[11],[12],[13] Rocky Ford,[14] Centennial Mesa,[15],[16] Northglenn Heights17]] as well as parts of Pueblo Eastside annexation from Brighton in 2000 (the last such annexation).[18][19] According to the US Census Bureau's 2010 census, 1,668 residents lived in Greenwood Village; 2% were Hispanic or Latino residents; 0% were Native Americans; 0% belonged to any religious group; 83% were white Protestant Christians; 6% were Catholic Catholics; 3% Source:2010 U.S Census
Gourmet Coffee History: Origins and Spread While coffee is a domesticated crop, its history stretches back to at least 6,000 years. The first recorded mention of coffee was in Babylon in c. 740 BC. At that time, the beans were ground into a powder and used as a drink for status symbols among the wealthy. The first espresso machines were invented in Italy in 1795 by Angelo Milano. Coffee became popularized throughout the world during the 1800s as part of an increased demand for luxury items like cigars and cigarettes. However, it wasn’t until 1875 that coffee began to be sold packaged as literature entitled “Cup of Joe” which introduced Europeans to this unique beverage. As coffee became more popular, it also became more expensive which led to different methods of producing it such as roasting and grinding. In 1912, Newman’s Own Coffee Corporation was founded with the goal of bringing high-quality affordable coffee to consumers all over the world through their own production facilities in Moorestown, New Jersey. From there, Newman’s Own would continue on to become one of America's leading companies in terms of sales and breakfast television fame (at least until Starbucks took over).

Greenwood is a small town located in Rio Grande County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is one of the oldest towns in the state and it has been around for over 100 years. Greenwood was founded by fur traders in 1849 as Four Corners Station. It was renamed Greenwood after General John C. Greenwood during the American Civil War to avoid confusion with the nearby city of Stroudsburg. The first settlers in what is now Greenwood were fur traders from Russia who came through central Colorado in search of land to settle. In 1849, they established a trading post at Four Corners Station on the Republican River. The post became an important transportation hub for goods arriving from Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska across the Rocky Mountains and down into Mexico before reaching California or points eastward. The trader-bandits known as the Blackfeet made frequent raids on frontier settlements here, but never managed to take much territory because they were unable towinter near cold climates like those in North America. In 1861, when Fort Sumter surrendered to Confederate forces during the American Civil War, Greenwood residents took up arms against their southern neighbor and joined forces with Union forces under General Ulysses S. Grant instead of turning tail and running away like many other eastern Coloradans did (many of whom would go on to play major roles in Post-War Reconstruction). This stand paid off when Grant ordered his army into Denver while he fought off simultaneous Confederate attacks north of that city; this allowed Union troops led by Major General George Armstrong Custer to march through Indianapolis intolos Angeles without being attacked—a feat that earned him national fame as “The Boy Who Drank Mount Rushmore” (a reference to his ability to fight single-handedly against overwhelming odds).
