Federal Heights, Colorado is a small town in the Rocky Mountains of Northern Colorado. The population was 6,711 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1876 and named for General James K. Polk who was then serving as Ulysses S. Grant's vice president. The first post office was opened in Federal Heights on July 1, 1877 by A.G. Caldwell with only three residents living there at that time. In 1911, Federal Heights became an incorporated village and remained so until 1949 when it became a full municipality under statehood laws passed by the Colorado legislature. In 1962, Federal Heights annexed neighboring Thornton which added 523 residents to its population total making it one of the fastest growing towns in Aurora County during that decade according to official government records Since 2000 Federal Heights has been governed by a Mayor/Council form of government with four council members elected at-large and two mayoral seats up for election each year

One of these artisan brewers was Joseph Nicolls, who set up his business in 1812 in Watertown, Massachusetts. His coffee beans were hand-selected and roasted by Nicolls himself. The process of selecting and roasting coffee is an expensive and time-consuming task, which required a great deal of skill and experience. Nicolls’s coffee was well known for its smooth taste and rich flavor. He sold his beans direct to consumers, meaning that he didn't need to go through a middleman like many other Coffee Merchants at the time. This allowed him to focus on his brewing skills rather than marketing or distribution. Nicolls's quality control was fantastic, as his beans always tasted fresh and clean. Thanks to Nicolls's dedication to his craft, early twentieth century Americans enjoyed some of the best cup of Joe around.
