In January of 1907, Evans, Colorado began its coffee history when a small farmstead began to roast and sell coffee. The first beans were picked during the early morning hours before sunrise. Today, Evans Coffee continues to produce quality coffee with its family-owned and operated business. The beans are roasted in the heart of Evans while still under the direct supervision of the farmers who have made this their livelihood for generations. The name “Evans Coffee” originated from one of the original purchasers of beans from the farmstead in 1907. John Fenton had been named as one of several coopers on a new railroad that was being built through Evans territory. When he learned about the high quality coffee being produced in Evans County, he decided to buy some from the owners and keep it for himself. He quickly became known as “the man behind Evans Coffee” because his decisions (and those of his successors) were instrumental in keeping this unique brand alive today. Today, there are more than a hundred thousand customers who enjoy Evans Coffee products each month – making it one of Colorado’s leading retail brands!
