John Evans died on December 12th, 1902 at age 86 years old after a long career as an entrepreneur and philanthropist in Colorado Springs. His death left an estate worth more than $100 million dollars today. Evans was buried at Greenwood Cemetery inColorado Springs with full military honors and a state funeral attended by Ulysses S Grant and other famous figures from American history
