Since then commerce has continued to grow within commercecity while also impacting other aspects of life including art, music, education, health care and more. Today there are over 10 businesses operating inside or outside of commerce city offering services to residents and visitors alike. All these businesses have contributorial roles in helping make commerce CITY one of the most vibrant communities in Western Colorado

The first post office was established at Commerce City on October 12, 1875. The name of the city was changed to Commerce City on July 1, 1907. On February 14, 1912 the last gold mine in North America closed and left Commerce City with no industry to support it.
