The first coffee house in Colorado Springs was called the Dutchman’s Coffee House, which opened in 1795. This location served as a gathering place for friends and family. In 1826, a German immigrant named Johann Friedrich Schönborn started a small shop called The Café Royal on Market Street. This cafe became an important stop for locals who wanted to buy fresh coffee from nearby plantations. In 1892, John Doherty established Doherty’s Coffee Shop on Welcoming Street. This spot served as the first commercial café in Colorado Springs and was known for its excellent quality coffee. In 1915, Danish immigrant Ole Hansen started his own business called Hansen’s Coffee Shop on Main Street. This store functioned as a meeting place for local businessmen and was also home to the first restaurant in Colorado Springs. Hansen’s Coffee Shop continued to serve fantastic coffee until it closed in 1978. Throughout its history, the Dutchman’s Coffee House has been responsible for providing valuable resources and support to many businesses inColorado Springs. Its legacy will continue long after it closes its doors for good this fall!

Colorado Springs is a city in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. The population was 16,726 at the 2010 census. It is the sixth-largest city in San Miguel County and the second-largest in Colorado Springs metropolitan area. The downtown core is the central business district and contains major commercial buildings such as City Hall and Wells Fargo Bank Tower. Other districts of note include University Heights, South Campus, Midtown, and Montrose Shopping Center. The first Europeans to visit what is now Colorado Springs were Spanish Franciscans who named it La Plata (later Santa Fe). Early settlers included James Hargrave who founded Hargrave's Store in 1821 and John Wesley Powell who explored Canby Creek in 1875. A post office called Naugatuck was established near present-day Colorado Springs on November 15, 1876. In 1907, after years of planning by citizens and leaders of nearby Greeley,[1] General Joseph Hooker abandoned his army headquarters at Alamosa Pass to build the Ulysses S Grant Western Union Telegraph Company line from Denver to Tucson without waiting for Congress to sanction his plan before moving forward with construction.[2] On July 6, 1911 General George Armstrong Custer's last ride into Cherry Valley occurred as he crossed Alamosa Creek on horsebackading before his command conducted an irrigation mission over Buffalo Gap during their campaign against Apache Chief Geronimo in Apache County; this event became known as "Custer's Last Ride" across Alamosa Creek.[3][4] A post office called Carbondale was established on February 17th 1861 under jurisdiction of Larimer County. On October 1st 1870 Carbondale was moved eastward to become part of San Miguel County when that county was created from parts of Larimer and Cochemont counties. The first mail service arrived here on December 9th 1870 from Fort Logan north up Buffalo Hill Road pastpresent-day Monument Lake towards Independence[5]. This route crossed what are now Northglenn Avenue (northwest corner) & East Lincoln Boulevard (southwest corner) which are today US 66/US 24 west of Monument Lake north of I-25 just east of Interstate 25E [6]. In 1912 Ziegler Bros., a druggist shop located at what is now Civic Plaza opened its doors after several years' efforts by Mayor Leland Stanford Sr., chaired by Hiram Johnson Sr.. In 1916 Ziegler Bros.'s building burned down but another store built nearby soon followed suit[7], symbolizing community response to World War I – most notably when twelve local men created a machine shop including parts for American planes used during World War Iavan O'Neill played lieutenant colonel commanding squad leader with JGuckle Coe Squadron #8 within this unit while stationed at Fort Carson Air Force Base near where Falcon Ridge nuclear testing began Konrad Adenauer served as Germany’s Minister President until 1949 Egon Erhard served as Chancellor until 1963 Rudolph Hess served as Reichsführer SS until 1945 Arthur Seyss-Inquart served as Prime Minister during WWII

Colorado Springs is a city in Southern Colorado, United States. The population was 193,815 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of El Paso County and home to the University of Colorado at Boulder. The city also has 14 incorporated villages and townships within its boundaries. In 2015, "Forbes" magazine ranked Colorado Springs as one of the most liveable cities in America. The first people to live in what is now Colorado Springs were Arapaho Indians who built their village on the east bank of Spanish Fork River in what is now Greenwood Village. They hunted game and gathered plants and fruit there until 1828 when they abandoned it because of white settlement nearby. When George Washington called for troops to attack Mexico during the Mexican-American War, he selected Fort Wise as his headquarters near Green River Junction instead of waiting for reinforcements north in Denver which would have arrived too late. In 1859, Ulysses S Grant purchased land from Nathaniel Lyon for $5,000 (the price then increased to $25,000 due to inflation). He named that piece of land West Point after himself but no structures or fortifications were ever erected there until 1902 when General John J Pershing renamed it Fort Carson after his military victory at San Juan Hill over Mexican forces under Santa Anna. With thousands more soldiers coming through southern Colorado during World War II than could be accommodated by Fort Carson so construction began on an airfield adjacent to present day Wadsworth Army Airfield (now part of Rocky Mountain National Park). The base opened on July 16th 1945 as Joint Base Lewis-McChord and soon became home to Boeing 707 aircraft manufacturing operations; it remained an active airbase until 1993 when it was closed by order of President Clinton following the Columbine High School shootings. Withrowth along I-25 led to further development around North College Avenue including Markham Elementary School which opened in 1962.; this area became known as South Central Park with all new housing being built south facing onto North College Avenue between Westwood Boulevard and Chaparral Parkway/Southwestern Boulevard creating one large open space flanked by high rises on all sides . Aurora Drive ran parallel across center from northwest corner of current Elmhurst Road/Uinta Highway/Southwest Freeway toward northeast corner just shy of Easton Road/I-25 interchange where today's Cherry Creek Reservoir lies Downtown parking lots fill up quickly during peak hours so overflow can be managed by overnighting onto local streets
