Grant approved construction of Keystone Railway between Denver and Salt Lake City through what are now Alamosa and Colorado Springs. The new town grew quickly due to its location, good infrastructure (including a water system), and easy access to minerals and industry outside of Denver for workers during this time of great economic growth across America. When World War II began, many American men volunteered for military service because they saw no other way out than war with Germany or Japan. Many people from Colorado Springs enlisted in the Army Air Forces or Navy Reserve before Pearl Harbor occurred on December 7th 1941; most notably Floyd Boggs who flew an F4U Corsair from Oregon Station Cherry Point Naval Air Station into Tokyo Bay on December 7th 1941 as part of Operation Crossroads mission to sink Japanese naval vessels off Okinawa without causing damage or loss to Allied ships or sailors

In 1984, after years of negotiations and construction, US Interstate 70 was completed through much of downtownColorado Springs - making it possible for commuters to reach bothDenver and San Francisco without having to leave their cars parked on Centennial Boulevard or Civic Center Drive. Today, Downtown Colorado Springs remains one of America's most vibrant neighborhoods with a rich history dating back centuries – whether it be its many theaters (including Regal), art galleries (including Paley Hall), restaurants (including Cafe Rioja), or museums (such as Mayan ruins at Garden Park). While some aspects have changed over time – such as traffic congestion on I-25 – overall Denverites often describe Downtown Colorado Springs as "the place where all your dreams come true."

The town began as a Native American trading post on the Arkansas River and eventually became a center for mining and ranching.
