Centennial is a town in Mesa County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2010 census. Centennial is located on the edge of the Purgatory Mountains and is bordered by Pueblo to the east and Parker to the west. Centennial was founded in 1870 by soldiers who were discharged from the Mexican-American War. It became a city in 1907 and has since grown into a major center for industry and commerce. Centennial is known for its annual " centennial parade", which features floats and marching bands from around Colorado as well as from other states. A significant aspect of Centennial's history has been its role as an important agricultural center during both the late 19th century when it was one of six counties in Mesa County that produced wheat, corn, cotton, potatoes, appleseed oil (a key feedstock for automobile manufacturing), hayseed oil (used for animal Feed) and other commodities; and during World War II when it played an important role in providing food for troops stationed nearby at Fort Bliss and elsewhere within Arizona Republic Defense Command

Centennial is a town in Moffat County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,853 at the 2010 census. Centennial was named for the centennial of Colorado's admission to the Union as a U.S. state on November 4, 1876. The first post office in Centennial was established in 1887, and the town formally incorporated in 1912. The first store and livery were built around 1907 by J.M. Fenton and Wm Laddington respectively; both men are buried at Centennial Cemetery. A number of pioneers who began arriving in what is now Centennial during the early 1860s also arrived during or after the Gold Rush era which ended on June 5, 1861 with California's entry into the union as a U.S.�state."Centennial: Origins and Development," Rocky Mountain Historical Society. In 1915, Clyde Sperry opened his grocery store at 701 Main Street which remains an important business presence today. In 1954, due to increasing influx of Mexican immigrants into central Colorado,[7] Centennial passed an ordinance establishing Chicano Day (October 14th) as a national holiday honoring Mexican-American contributions to American culture and history.
