The Colorado Air Force Museum in Castle Rock, Colorado has a rich air force history. It was founded on July 1, 1948 as the Air Force Reserve Command Center and changed its name to the Colorado Air National Guard Base on October 11, 1960. The base became an operational USAF installation on December 15, 1961 when it opened its doors to the public. In 1977, the base was renamedColorado Springs Army Airfield after Major General James E. Alexander Jr., who had been named Commander of Central American Aerospace Defense Forces in Tucson. The airport was enlarged and re-opened as Colorado Springs International Airport on November 26th of that year. On May 10th, 1992 the airport became an active USAF installation with status of Major airbase which it remains today. Castle Rock is a small town in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,026 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pueblo, Colorado Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Castle Rock were némahides who came from Mexico in 1847. They built the first cabin on the site which still stands today. A post office was established in 1872, and by 1880 there were over 20 businesses in the town. In 1886 a dam was constructed to provide water for irrigation purposes, and Castle Rock became an important agricultural center with a large population of corn farmers and other crops. However, during World War II both the United States and Great Britain used CastleRock as airfields for bombing raids on Denver and other cities in Colorado; this led to some decline in business activity until 1970 when development around the airport began to revive growth rates for that community as well as many others within San Miguel County. Today Castle Rock is known as one of the mostPicturesque Small Towns In America because of its wide variety of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, golfing, fishing and horseback riding; it also has several shops and restaurants which make it a great place to stay while visiting nearby towns such as Aspen or Loveland.

Castle Rock is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. It was founded in 1876 and named for the rock formations that make up its enclosing hills. The town has a population of about 350 and is the county seat of Weld County. Castle Rock is located on the river Arapaho. The first settler in what is now Castle Rock was Levi Parsons, who arrived around 1875. In 1879, Major John Cramer established Fort Carson at what is now the corner of East Main Street and South Park Avenue. He built a stockade to protect his fort from robbery by Apaches and other Indians who preoccupied the area during the early days of ranching in central Colorado. In 1880, Captain James Hurlbut purchased 1,000 acres (500 ha) east of present-day Castle Rock from Levi Parsons for $10 per acre. He began to build a logging camp there which would become known as Hurlbut Station. That same year, he married Rachel Cummings and lived at Hurlbut Station with their two children before moving to nearby Lathrop where he began developing his land holdings into a successful lumber business dynasty that continues to this day. Captain Hurlbut also donated land near Lathrop for use as an airport; today's Denver International Airport sits on that property. In 1912, union members joined forces with local farmers to fight against labor competition from New Mexico interests in an effort called "The Great Strike." The strike lasting three weeks resulted in over 100 injuries and $1 million worth of damage done to properties across central Colorado due to angry mobs roaming the countryside looking for strikers. The victory resulting from this standoff helped solidify unionism as an important part of American politics throughout much of the 1920s and 1930s. A new hotel complex was completed in 1961 within walking distance of downtown Castle Rock – still serving as one oftown's most popular tourist attractions today! During its heyday CastleRock boasted more than 30 businesses including several banks, several restaurants/bars/nightclubs (including one operated by Elvis Presley), two newspapers (one daily and one weekly), four post offices (two ZIP codes included), two movie theaters (Emmett Smith's Monumental Theatre & Regal Cinema), three ice rinks (including one featuring free skating on Wednesdays during winter months!), five golf courses - including one open only to members - plus dozens more cottage homes., multiple tennis courts (and manyMORE!!!)
