Brighton, Colorado is a small town located in southern Colorado. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pueblo County, Colorado Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that would become Brighton was first settled by European Americans in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1907, a post office called Brighton was established in what is now Pueblo County. The name Brighton was chosen because of its similarity to the English town ofBrighton on the south coast of England. The 20-acre (8 ha) original settlement included a Methodist church, two stores and a sawmill. In 1923, when Pueblo County were created, Brighton became one of its seven townships. Its residents voted to incorporate as a city in 1965. In that year it had a population of about 25 people and became known as Brighton City Limits before being granted full city status in 1971. Since then, Brighton has undergone various changes: it has been renamed twice (1997-1998 and 2003-2004), had an indoor ice rink opened in 2001, and hosted the 2002 Umpqua Open golf tournament which helped increase its profile nationally.

By 1830, Brazilian traders had also begun trading with Africa supplying different types of chocolate with African cocoa being used as filler (Leyendecker). Coffee production increased rapidly during this period thanks to advances in technology such as water expansion tanks, processing methods such as roasting on an open fire,and packaging innovations such as metal cans that allowed Cafeteria Keepers to store large quantities of caffeine without spilling it (Wang et al.).

Brighton, Colorado was founded in 1868 by James H. Gregg and his family. The town was named after the Brighton Pier in London, England. The Greggs immigrated to the United States and started a small business in Brighton. In 1915, the Gregg family sold their business and moved to Greeley, Colorado. They continued to operate a small grocery store until their death in 1978. Their daughter, Esther Gregg, took over the business after her father's death. In 1984, Esther Gregg donated the store building and its contents to the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) for use as a research center on food production methods during World War II. In 1988, UNC leased the building back from UNC and changed its name to Brighton Museum of History & Industry. In 2003-2004, renovations were conducted to make it more adaptive to changes in technology including an underground parking garage that opened in 2009-2010. The museum is open every day except Tuesdays since 2006 when it closed due to budget cuts by UNC chancellor Royce Kagan Jr.. The museum has been able to reopen with increased awareness thanks in part to events such as "Food Fiasco: A History of America’s Food Crisis" which aired on PBS' "Frontline" in February 2014 The history of Brighton began with James H. Gregg who arrived here from London, England with his family for unknown reasons around 1868 becoming one of only two Americans sojourning at Greeley at that time The first thing done here was start up a grocery store called “Gregg’s Grocery Store” which did well for itself but then decided against staying long because there was no real market for groceries back then However they did import some goods like flour from Illinois so everything wasn’t completely new here In 1915 we moved out of our house on First Street into this brick building that we currently occupy on McLaughlin Drive which sat right next door to what would later become Northwestern State Normal School which is now known as UNC When we left our house it had 2 exterior staircases leading up 1/2 mile away and 2 interior staircases going all the way up 3 miles away! It must have been quite an achievement getting all those stairs inside without breaking anything or collapsing any ceilings – something I still can testify about today because my dad did it while he built our home 4 decades ago! He was pretty good at his job 🙂 It wasn’t until WWII when US war plants started moving into Greeley so we saw a lot of growth here actually especially around 1945 when UNC became known as Western Defense Command Headquarters We also experienced some pretty intense times during WWII like being bombed numerous times total throughout downtown Greeley although thankfully not too badly damage caused by our munitions factory down town . After WWII things calmed down somewhat but you could still smell gasoline exhaust from all these manufacturing plants doing their thing nearby . For whatever reason people stopped coming here altogether starting again about 1965 or 66 when Greenwood shifted focus HERE instead and many original residents either got jobs or just drifted away . So yeah – there are definitely memories associated with this place dating back several hundred years !
