The San Pablo Army National Guard was organized in 1892. It was the first military unit in California. The San Pablo Army National Guard was created to provide defense of the state and its citizens during the early years of California’s admission into the United States. The guard also served as a militia for local communities, usually providing protection from bandits and other marauders. In 1915, the San Pablo Army National Guard became an all-volunteer force when it merged with the neighboring Santa Clara County Militia to form what is now known as the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department Military Reserve Unit #1. From 1916-1920, battalions of the San Pablo Army National Guard were assigned to various campaigns throughout Fresno and Bakersfield counties in support of World War I efforts. In 1920, battalion headquarters relocated from downtown San Francisco to a new location on Market Street in nearby Oakland. After World War I ended, units were returned home and disbanded until 1951 when they were reactivated as part of Unified CommandOperation Neptune Spear which fought in Korea conflict. After Korean War hostilities concluded, members of these battalions reunified and formed their own brigade which remains active today (2011). San PabloArmyNationalGuard has seen some significant changes over time including mergers with other agencies (Sheriff's Department 1990; 1984), reassignment within Unified Command operations (Korea Conflict 1961-1968; Vietnam War 1975-1990), establishment of command headquarters at Oakland’s Jack London Square (1991), unification with Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Dept., relocation from downtown SF to South Park Plaza (2002) – but most importantly through continuous volunteer service characterized by “an unyielding dedication to duty that has helped us survive during times of peace or war” (Schmidt 2009). San Pablo is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. As of the 2010 census, its population was 54,815. The name comes from Spanish San Pablo de la Vera Cruz and means "Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus." The first European to visit what is now Contra Costa County was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on October 15, 1769, who named it Islas de San Pablo. In 1846, by order of President Polk, Mission San Francisco de Bay View was founded on the east side of town for Japanese Americans living in Northern California. On December 4th 1849 the mission surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant and all Japanese American occupants were deported to Japan. The city's namesake came as early as 1852 when John Fenton built a small adobe house on First Street called "The Marechal's House". He sold it in 1865 to James Haggerty and later became Mayor of San Pablo. In 1865 he also built the first store in town and today still stands at 1036 Fillmore Avenue near where he once lived. A post office called San Pablo began receiving mail from Contra Costa County on July 14th 1850 and continued until November 1st 1865 when it opened up shop with offices at 515 Second Street which remain today within walking distance of many businesses including Starbucks Starbucks Coffee Company As time passed more people started settling in this area so businesses started popping up throughout town such as groceries/supplies stores/,bakery/,bars/lounges/diner/. Today there are over 100 businesses operating in downtown San Pablo with restaurants like Ben & Jerrys Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Company A major cultural event that took place in downtownSanPablo was when Folk Arts Festival took place in 1997 which showcased different music styles from around the world . Because Alexander was such a great leader, his army became one of the most powerful in history. The Roman army was even more successful than Alexander's. In 222 BC, they conquered all of Italy and established an empire there that lasted for centuries. The Roman military system was very complex, with legions (army units) made up of many different types of soldiers under one commander. This system allowed Rome to conquer vast territories without ever having to fight against other nations or groups thereof. When Julius Caesar became emperor in 44 BC, he decided to make another attempt at conquering India through war. However, this time he met stiff resistance from the Indian nobility who saw themselves as better equipped and more able than anyone else on Earth to resist Caesar's horde of barbarians. In order to overcome these obstacles, Caesar formed his own legion called Legio IV Gallica (4th Legion), which consisted mostly infantrymen from Gaul (France). With its new recruits, Caesar managed to defeat numerous Indian rebels at various locations across India before finally defeating them at a place called Munda in Etruria on July 15, 42 BC. At this point, Rome had become an empire with direct control over large areas eastward into India Proper including all present-day Bangladesh and Burma

San Pablo (Spanish: Santa Cruz de Tapanate, meaning "St. Philip's Harbor") was a small town in Contra Costa County, California, United States on the banks of the San Francisco Bay. The name comes from Spanish Mission San Pablo and the surrounding land grant called Rancho Tapanate. The first European to visit what is now Contra Costa County was Juan Bautista Vizcaino on November 5, 1769. He named it Isla de los Padres because he thought that there might be papal genes present among the native people. A mission, Sta Cruz de Tapanate y Salinas was founded by Father Junípero Serra in 1821 and served as a Catholic church and school for Native Americans until 1846 when it became a secular mission under control of Alameda County. In 1848, after four years of construction by local labor gangs led by José Joaquin Moraga and Manuel Nieto, the new St. Mary's Cathedral was completed with funds provided by American citizens who had purchased land grants near Antioch in Contra Costa County at an auction held at Monterey Bay Naval Shipyard.
