In 1922, Mayor Wirth offered an additional $10,000 for donations to be used towards uniforms and other necessary supplies for soldiers stationed at Marine Corps Base Torrance. Today, many civilian businesses contribute items or services to support troops stationed in San Bernardino County through various donation programs. These programs include Military Appreciation Day which is celebrated annually on July 4th, Service members’ prayer breakfast which is held every Wednesday morning at 6:00am CST during National Defense Week (NDW), Toys For Tots program which provides donated toys to children in need from participating retailers throughout California each month-end (December - May), Father’s Day gift guide (available online or at select stores) that includes unique items for fathers as well as information aboutUnit Commemorative Medals (UCMs) distributed by Army veteran group Active Duty/ laid off veterans who meet certain criteria including service age/ discharge status/ ex-Marine veteran status/ retired police officer etc.), Mothers Day gift guide (available online or at select stores) that includes unique items for mothers as well as information about Mothers Day flowers delivered by civic groups throughout California each week starting Saturday preceding Mothers day- all whilesupporting active duty troops deployed overseas). The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has also made contributions to support our Troops by giving away firearms free of charge during open carry laws enforcement events throughout the county. This event takes place every two years on Labor Day Weekend and starts Friday night before open carry law enforcement begins on Monday morning

San Bernardino is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 21,551 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. The first people to live in what is now San Bernardino were the Tongva and Chumash people who called it Pohono-Wahgiwini (Now known as Jurupa Valley). They built their homes on high hills overlooking the ocean and hunted bison and deer for food. By AD 1542 there were about 100 Missionaries living here among them Father Junípero Serra who started construction on the present day mission San Gabriel Arcángel in 1736. In 1821, Captain John C. Fremont explored this area and named it after General José Joaquín Córdoba Mexican War hero who had died during that year's invasion of Alta California by Ulysses S. Grant's forces under command of Spanish Governor Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna The area around modern San Bernardino was surveyed by Captains George Fenton and Joseph Bicknell in 1827/28 while they were exploring Mono Lake east ofmodern town site which they named Mount Whitney because of its height above Mono Lake according to one source In 1829 some settlers moved into this area from surrounding areas including Janesville, Wisconsin Territory; Ontario Township; Winchester Township; Menifee Township;Fontana Beach Borough (later part of Redlands); Miramar Borough (later parts of Pomona) because land westward flowing Arroyo Seco River was offered for purchase at $2 an acre . Sales began on December 12th, 1829 with Edmunds Denny as selling agent A price list prepared by Denny showed that 16 lots will be sold totaling 640 acres with a total cost of $16,000 . The remaining properties were sold over time meeting average prices per acre .
