The United States Navy has been a vital part of America's defense for over 200 years. Our navy deployments have helped make our country the most powerful on Earth, and in Los Gatos, California, they continue to do so today. The history of the Naval Station Los Gatos began in 1901 with the construction of Fort Point San Francisco by Commodore John D. Stockton. This fort was located on the current site of Naval Base Ventura County, which was completed in 1909. After World War I ended, however, Fort Pointsan Francisco was decommissioned and never used again. In 1931, Commodore James Eustis assumed command of the North Pacific Fleet at Yokosuka. At this time, Japan had just started their process of becoming an empire and there were concerns that they would weaponize their navy as well as try to play off American against us. Commodore Eustis ordered that all surplus ships from World War I be disposed of and that new sonar equipment be acquired to detect Japanese submarines in open ocean areas! In 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and attacked America with Operation Guadalcanal. The United States responded with a massive military campaign known as WWII which lasted for six months! The USS Enterprise (CV-6) became one of the first warships to enter Tokyo Bay after it arrived viaOperation Husky on December 7th 1941! During WWII cruise missiles were developed by Standard Missile Company (SMC) at Vandenberg AFB in California using what is now known as Trident II missile warheads! These weapons allowed US navies to destroy targets anywhere in Asia without having to transponder messages back home! After WWII ended there were a number of changes happening within both the United States Navy and its parent organization – NATO – which led to more naval deployments overseas during peacetime than ever before! By 1969 Naval Base Ventura County consisted onlyof barracks for Marines while also housing ninedestroyers belonging to Destroyer Squadron Nine (DS9)! As we know today, DS9 has become one of Orange County's most iconic organizations thanks partially to their deployment Deployment Unit One (DU1) stationed at NAS Miramar from 1988-1991!! DU1 deployed aboard USS Constitution (CV-45) from 1990-1991 where they renovated shipyards along with providing education & training opportunities for local residents!!! In 2003 when CVN 65 made its first deployment since 1960 she joined DU1 permanently!! Today US NAVY presence worldwide includes over 400 vessels including 6 carriers (!), 66 cruisers/destroyers (& 12 Littoral Combat Ships!), 8 aircraft carriers (!), 5 amphibious assault ships (& 3 Assault Amphibious Ships!), 9 submarines (.50 caliber gunboats & 2 corvettes), 4 nuclear powered submarines (.75 inch guns), 1 helicopter squadron (~30% active duty airmen)), 1 carrier group (~10% operational), 2 land forces brigades (~10% operational), 10 Marine Corps battalions (~100% operational)) making it one largest ROTC unit in North America !!! Los Gatos is a city in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The population was 34,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of Silicon Valley and the San Jose–Sunnyvale-Santa Clara metropolitan area. Los Gatos was founded by Spaniards in 1847 as Agua Dulce. The name "Gatos" means "cats" in Spanish and refers to the city's feline inhabitants. The first post office in Los Gatos was established on July 12, 1849, under the name of Rancho San José de las Aguas Calientes. A second post office opened on December 6, 1850, with the name of Rancho Rio Hondo de los Gatos (now known as City Council Chambers). The city's first mayor was Juan Bautista Alameda. In 1871, when Palo Alto and East Palo Alto were incorporated as cities, Los Gatos became a part of Palo Alto. In 1916 Governor Hiram Johnson recommended that Los Gatos be moved from its original location near Gilroy to make room for new military installations at Redwood Shores Naval Air Station which would soon become Navy Base Ali Baba and Castle Rock Naval Air Station which would soon become Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.. In 1943 Los Gatos became an airbase with First World War vintage Beechcraft aircraft storage yards becoming active adjacent to Municipal Airport south of town and later used by Republic Aviation Corporation for hangars larger than those now present at nearby Moffett Field airport south of town until their closure during the 1990s along with most other airports within Santa Clara County due to local government budgetary limitations caused by increased spending associated with state mandated mandates pertaining to transportation infrastructure including expressways etc.). In 1991 IASCO released a study entitled “Loss Opportunities Impacts Community Planning Modeling for Rail Transit Services” which resulted in recommendations that rail transit services be provided through interurban bus rapid transit corridors running north from downtown through North El Sobrante valley before terminating at SJSU or Cupertino Creek Regional Park & Recreation Center; these corridors should not cross Route 101 between downtown and eastside communities but terminate just outside SJSU providing easy access into campus areas without having to walk or bike across county lines; this corridor could also serve South San Francisco Peninsula commuter trains serving Sunnyvale/East Palo Alto/South San Francisco) IASCO also recommended that rail transit service be provided through Interurban Rapid Transit corridors running southeast from downtown through Menlo Park/Atherton Heights then terminating at Southern Pacific Railroad’s Hayward station; these corridors should not cross Route 101 between downtown and eastside communities but terminate just outside Hayward providing easy access into campus areas without having to walk or bike across county lines; this corridor could also serve Daly City commuters serviced by BART operations departing Hayward station) finally recommendation that rail transit service be provide through lightrail tunnels crossing various valleys including San Andreas Fault west of Livermore Pass connecting Fremont/Salinas Valley with Milpitas/San Mateo Valleys served by Amtrak operating out of Eureka Junction BART station) both recommendations were eventually implemented although only portions of each have been completed resulting in increased housing costs associated with newly constructed stations while less efficient routing patterns have resulted in numerous lengthy delays connecting train arrivals with departures throughout the network making it difficult for passengers travelling directly towards desired destinations without intervening trains bypassing their intended route
