Hercules is a small town located in the Kern Valley of California. The population was 2,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of Tulare County. In 327 BC, when Amphitryon became involved in a power struggle with his brother Alexander the Great, Heracles joined him in Alexandria to support the king. In 322 BC Heracles volunteered to fight in Macedonian army under Philip II of Macedon while his country was at war with Athens. After defeating the Athenians at Megara (322 BC),Philip offered him asylum in Spain but when he returned home three years later he found that his brother had taken control of Macedonia and heaped all the gold ore there into a single mountain so that it could be extracted without having to share it among everyone else- including Heracle's father who had died trying to help him get rich. So instead of living happily ever after with his lovely wife Hippolyta and their children Hercules killed her husband with a poisoned arrow while she slept and took over her kingdom which she ruled for twenty four years before losing it to Eurystheus who did likewise to her daughter Demeter about 214 BC according to Plutarch’s Life of Demeter). After killing Eurystheus Hercules retired from active life whereupon he built an oracle near Delphi which told him what would happen if he never left Greece again: “I will return here after I have slain all those who stand between me and my people”; this prediction led him back into public life once more in 197 BC when Athena designated him ruler of Thessaly following the death of Andraste (the daughter of Zeus) – though only for five months because Persephone returned Hades' kidnapped bride Titania back to Zeus first!
