Earl Hines gave another important gift when he gifted $10,000 into technology development fund for both Hughes Aircraft Company and Raytheon Company which would go on to create modern day navies! This donation helped increase Raytheon's line up for future warships while also helping Hughes continue developing new technologies which could later be used on ships! Captain Willard Martin also donated money towards technological research for submarines which would lead to improved submarine capabilities such as underwater searchlights! In 1978, Captain Steve Berry donated $5,000 towards naval ship design research which would culminate in the creation of HMCS Esquimalt (LH-8) ! This donation allowed Canada's first nuclear powered warship, HMCS Victoria(LH-9), to become operational! She was decommissioned in 1846, but recommissioned in 1861 as the USS Missouri (1861-65). She served during both World Wars, participating in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Glendale, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 91,653 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Los Angeles County after Carson City and it is one of the few cities in Southern California with a post-industrial economy. Glendale has been called "the land where dreams come true" and "The Village that Could". The city's rich history involves its location at the intersection of four major east-west arterial roads - Glendale Boulevard, Pasadena Avenue, Highland Avenue and Lankershim Boulevard - which made it an important transportation junction during its early years as a town. Glendale was founded on April 6, 1887 by James Wickersham and his brother Amos Wickersham as a small farming community near what is now Northridge Cemetery. The name came from John Fenton's book "A History of Rancho Santa Margarita", which described Glandona Creek as being like "a glistening white streamlet running through green woodruff bushes"). The first known resident was William Heston (1839-1920), who ranched for cattle near present day Glendale Boulevard and Park Service Road. Heston named his farm Westvale after his home west of Glendale on Maplehurst Road. In 1886–87, John Madden purchased 2 million acres (8 km2) of desert land south of downtown Los Angeles from José Moreno to develop into what would become Orange County; however, no development occurred becauseof Warrior's War (1896). In 1903, Leland Stanford bought 1/4 acre (0.16 km2) of land off Western Avenue between Huntington Drive and Lankershim Boulevard for $1; this parcel would later be known as Crescent Heights because it lay within the boundaries of future Glendale Township or Citrus Hillsborough because citrus production increased there following World War II when oranges became available for marketing again due to new technology developed by Stanford’s son Lee Iacocca

Other early residents included Mrs. Jessie Madden (1885-1964), manager of the Eaton's store building at 7th Avenue and West Adams Boulevard; Mrs. Ethel Ladd (1889-1964), wife of real estate agent Harry Ladd; Mr. Jens Jensen (1893-1946), owner of the hardware store at 8th Avenue and Western Avenue; Drs John Doheny (1897-1976) and Willis Hahnel (1903-1987).[4] In 1923, when Pasadena annexedglenorthat adjoined it southward,[5][6][7][8]the new city had just under 2,000 residents,[9]but soon surpassed that number with rapid growth due to its location along Interstate 5 close to major highways[10][11]: local businesses grew quickly thanks to freeway access[12],and annexation brought new jobs into town as well: auto parts manufacturers Kaiser Permanente [13], beverage manufacturer Allied Bottlers [14], chemical companies DuPont [15],[16],[17], meatpacking plants Cargill [18],[19],[20]; textiles giant Singer Sewing Machine Corporation operated out of their original plant at 6200 Northfigueroa Street until they were merged into General Motors two years later; general contractors such as Wacoal Rubber Company were also established during this time period[21]. During World War II there was rapid growth due tooverall demand for war materials:[22],[23]; however much of this development came about because Japanese Americans living inGlendale had connections with military factories located elsewhere across southern LA county which generated jobs for locals during peacetime.[24]: This influx caused some problems for local activists who objected totransportation ties with Japan which continued even though those ties were severed following World War II

In 1909, Walter Purdy built his famous Purdy House on 5555 Hollywood Boulevard – still standing today (it has been greatly renovated)). In 1927, he donated the house and land for what would become North Park University which then began operations as North Park School District No. 1 elementary school serving grades K-12th grade until it merged with nearby Fullerton Unified School District to form Fullerton Unified School District No. 2 in 1980). Then starting in 1970 there were two high schools: Hesperia High School (now Imperial Valley High School) located east of Glendale Boulevard on Hesperia Avenue and Pioneer High School (later renamed Centennial Hills High School) located west of Glendale Boulevard onmeet Chavez Avenue south of Union Station
