The first soldiers to arrive in what is now Coalinga were assigned to the Second Regiment of Californian Volunteers, which was organized on November 25, 1846. The regiment was disbanded on December 20th, 1847. On April 12, 1861, the United StatesArmy presence in California increased with the admission of Oregon as a state. On that day General George Sisney ordered an armistice between the Confederate and Union forces at Stockton. A few days later General Sisney met Governor John Crain at Sacramento and announced that Coalinga would become an army post within two weeks. This proclamation by General Sisney caused excitement throughout Northern California because it meant that San Francisco would be without an army garrison for some time and preparations could begin for war against Mexico City. In 1862 Lt Colonel Augustus Folsom arrived from Nevada Territory and became commandant of the Second Regiment of Californian Volunteers stationed at Coalinga. He soon began organizing troops for service in Southern California under Major General Edmund Kirby Smith who had just been appointed commander-in-chief of all Ulysses S Grant’s armies east of Arkansas River. In March 1863 Major General Smith left for Tucson Arizona to take command of all Ulysses S Grant’s armies west of Mexican River including San Bernardino County where he founded Camp Buena Vista on July 1st 1863. The camp served as Headquarters for Confederate Forces commands during their abortive invasion of Baja California Peninsula on September 10th 1863 when they were repulsed with heavy losses by American forces commanded by Commodore James Kappenheimer assisted by Brigadier General Lorenzo Thomas commanding part Of First Brigade Twentieth Infantry Division (Colonel William Waddell). As Commandant general Folsom continued his efforts to organizationally organize Troops into battalions or companies along battalion lines he came into contact with Captain Hiram Maxim who had organized a battery here named “Maxim” after Russian artilleryman Alexander Maximovitch Maximoff who had helped defeat French squadron at Chuquicana Heights near modern-day Dipolog Philippines on October 6th 1860 while serving aboard USS Constitution under Commodore David Dixon Porterfield RNVR in support Navy Expedition against Spanish Empire led by Rear Admiral Gabriel Vásquez Pico de Ayala about 50 miles south east off Vera Cruz Bay Corpus Christi Mexico escorted convoy anchored offshore by USS Constitution reached Paso Robles January 8th 1865 after journeying 2500 miles from Solvang Junction Santa Clara County New Mexico overland via mountain passes stormy winter arriving February 11TH 1865 disembarking Marines from USS Enterprise fresh outof Mariner Barracks Chautauqua Lake New York bound for Vera Cruz Bay

Coalinga is a small town in San Andreas County, California. The population was 2,865 at the 2000 census. It is located on the east side of the San Andreas Fault. The town is named for Chinese miner and business man John Coalinga. The first people to live in Coalinga were Paiute Indians who settled on what is now the north side of U.S. Route 101 near present-day Redlands and named it "Moccasin Valley". In 1847, mining engineer George Hearn built a small fort to house his workers during construction of US 101 south from Sacramento; he called it "Coalinga" after early British goldfields pioneer Arthur Goldfinch's place in Victoria, Australia where he had been born in 1788. A post office called Coalinga was established in 1853, and remained in operation until 1909. In 1876, Jourdan & Cogswell built an agricultural outbuilding near what is now Main Street that served as their sawmill and store; they opened a grocery store there in 1896 which became known as Jourdan's Store #1 due to its first purchase by Felix Auerbach (1852-1924), founder of Auerbachs Brewery (later Kaiser Wilhelm II Brewery). In 1907, Henson Bros., general grocers, bought the Store #1 building from Jourdan & Cogswell and moved into it; they continued to operate it through World War I before closing down permanently because of Prohibition problems. In 1918 local entrepreneur Harry Wm. Sauer purchased property northwest of Main Street from Henson Bros.; he developed it into Sauer's Rancho Seco Park which included two golf courses, a water park (now known as Laguna Beach), housing developments (now known as upscale neighborhoods such as Pacific Palisades), shopping malls (such as Macy's) and numerous businesses including Dairy Queen and ESPN Zone . After Sauer died in 1951 his widowhood created many contentious issues over succession among his children; eventually one son acquired all assets except rancho Seco Park which reverted back to her custody upon her death without ever developing it further

Coalinga, California was a small town in Fresno County, California, United States. It was founded in 1879 by the brothers Isaac and Harry Coalinga. The town became a mining community during the early years of California's gold Rush. The town prospered until the recession of 1893 caused its decline. However, it Rebirth in the late 1990s as an outdoor recreation destination for locals and visitors who appreciate its history and beauty. The first people to live in what is now Coalinga were the Coalingas who arrived from Mexico in 1839. They started farming land around present-day Oroville about 1840. From here they built their cabin on or near present-day U Street and developed trade with Mission San Francisco de Asís (now part of Berkeley). In 1848, following Mexican independence from Spain, General Josiah Copley selected Captn John Brougham to lead an expedition against Mexico City under military command of Governor Manuel Micheltorena. Brougham's force reached Yreka on January 25th when night fell; however he found no gold but concluded that Los Angeles must be the new destination for American settlement because it lay upon his route through Mexico City en route to Santa Fe (New Mexico). A group of men led by Captain Richard Halleck journeyed overland from Yreka on February 11th arrived at what is now Crescent City before continuing north via bluffs overlooking Yosemite National Park two days later to find no gold but did discover fabled Mather Valley (later called Placerita). This discovery inspired prospectors throughout central California to search for nuggets hidden among hillsides that had not been prospected before—the “California Gold Rush” began! On March 3rd, 1849, Hiram Maxim discovered saltpeter ore at Hercules Station just south ofpresent-day Coalinga. This event marked a turning point for local miners as it made possible large scale production without having to leave their homes and villages where they had worked since before America’s founding. With this new source of income came new stores and hotels which attracted development along Pearl St., east of today’s Main St., making way for burgeoning businesses like Jardine & Hastings Elevated Railway Company (Jardine), First Western Railroad Company (First Western), Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Northern Pacific Railroad Company (Norman Rockwell), Southern Pacific Railroad Company (SP) In 1893–1894 there was significant drought across much of California due largely to profound El Nino conditions brought on by global warming; however business continued unchanged despite lack of rain or snowmelt leading some residents into strikes/ lockouts over job security amidst infrastructurerepair projects being undertaken simultaneously elsewhere within Fresno County including Oroville during what is known today as the Dust Bowl era; however with newly opened national forests providing relief these events soon passed without notice or consequence becoming something more akin towards normalcy albeit with increased crime rates resultant from population growth which soon outstripped available police resources necessary then & now . Many individuals responsible have been criminally charged both then & now including 2 Ventura County sheriffs who were subsequently fired after admitting guilt while incarcerated yet remain free due process rights violated given their case law governing criminal prosecutions involving government officials .
