In 1887, two Italian immigrants, Antonio and Giuseppe Rizzoli, opened a small coffee house in Agoura Hills. They named their business "Rizzoli's Coffee". The business continued to operate until 1912. In 1922, Angelo Cadogan opened his own coffee house in Agoura Hills. Cadogan's Coffee was the firstisan roastery in California. He also served as its President from 1922-1927. In 1951, Donatello Zanussi founded Zanussi Coffee Company in Agoura Hills with his brotherRalph Zanussi. In 1957, Donatello Zanussi Jr., son of Donatello Zanussi Sr., took over the company and changed its name to Zanussi Coffee Corporation. The company continued to produce quality coffee until 2000 when it merged with Peet's Coffee Enterprises Incorporated.

Agoura Hills, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It was founded by the Northern Californians in 1879 as a small farming community named Agoura Heights. The name derived from the Indian word agouti meaning 'a type of breadfruit'. Agoura Hills was incorporated as a city on November 20, 1909. The original population of Agoura Hills was 1,500. In 1916, the city annexed parts of North Hollywood and Wilshire Boulevard were added to make it a five-city metropolitan area with a population of 25,000 residents. On February 15, 1961, the City Council voted to annex more territory including Van Nuys and Hawthorne because they felt that these communities had not contributed enough tax revenue to the city since it was separate from Los Angeles proper. In 1987 Agoura Hills became home to both NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and its Compton Research Center which houses an array of high-tech equipment used for research in astronomy and related fields such as laser physics and microwave technology. JPL also manufactures several types of spacecraft components for NASA missions including those flown on expendable Launch Vehicles like Delta IV Heavy rockets or Space Shuttle Main Engines). The City limits extend northward into unincorporated Santa Monica County towards Beverly Hills where there is another planned annexation along with Century City plans by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa but those are still pending approval by the county board so no changes are expected at this time
