The pistol capability quickly replaced the rifle/shotgun combination as the go-to weapon for local police officers when hunting big game! In 1978-1979 another addition was made which allowed users to purchase AR15 assault rifles!!!! This quickly became one of the most popular weapons inParagould because it offered high capacity, rapid fire ability & accuracy!!!

On November 3, 1907, the first post office in Paragould was established. The town was named for OrionParagould, a slaveholder who donated the land to the town. The population of Paragould was only 10 people when it incorporated as a village in 1909. By 1912, the population had grown to 30 and by 1916, it had reached 100 people. In 1920, the village became a town and in 1928 it became a city. On September 18, 1957, Paragould merged with Little Rock to form Arkansas City-Little Rock.
