The Jacksonville National Guard Museum is a museum that collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to the Jacksonville, Arkansas National Guard. The museum was established in 1978 and is located in the old post office building on Promenade Drive in downtown Jacksonville. The first national guard unit to be organized in Jacksonville was the 6th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. The regiment was activated on November 1, 1861 and served until December 12, 1865. In 1911, the 8th Arkansas Infantry Regiment was organized and remained active until 1922. On October 3, 1938, the 7th Missouri Infantry Regiment (National Guard) was activated at Jacksonville and served until 1951. In 1978, the 9th Alabama Infantry Regiment (National Guard) also arrived in town and served until 1982 when it left for Fort Polk Louisiana. In 2003-2004, $5 million was allocated from Congress to purchase land adjacent to the former Post Office Building on Promenade Drive for use as a National Guard Museum which would become known as "TheJacksonville Armory". The original structure had been used by both local police departments as well as various other organizations over time including a fire department garage and industrial storage area before it became vacant in 2003-2004. On January 14, 2006, after much anticipation by residents of Jacksonville who had gathered outside of city hall awaiting news of what happened next, Mayor Alvin Brown announced that the City Council had voted unanimously to appropriate $10 million dollars towards creating an Army/Navy War Memorial Plaza within city limits at Seventh Street Northeast between Military Road and Citizens Bank Road; this plaza would include a military museum with artifacts from all three branches of service inside of city limits across from Central Park West where government buildings once stood. On March 5 2007 Governor Mike Beebe signed into law HB 3594 which directed USDOT to award NoLantad $2 million for design work associated with modernizing infrastructure within 10 miles of any military installation or airport so that Guardsmen may access those installations without having their vehicle registration plates show on arrival or departure; this project is expected to begin construction in early 2009 and should be finished by 2013. This marks just one example of how state funds have flown into our community since Katrina hit New Orleans four years earlier; money has been earmarked for reconstruction projects such as resurfacing streets throughout town while still giving citizens control over their property through eminent domain proceedings - something not seen since days prior to Hurricane Katrina

Jacksonville, Arkansas is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 7,854 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Jacksonville is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Amarillo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first post office in Jacksonville was established on December 11, 1878. The present site of Jacksonville was laid out in 1902 by J.M. Bigham and C.F. In 1907, Averill Harriman donated land to form what would become known as Harriman Park (later renamed Jones-Bigham Park). On July 20, 1912,[2] Jacksonville became an incorporated town when it passed a referendum with 82% voting against incorporation into any other town or county within Arkansas; this event marks the first time that Arkansas had ever allowed towns or cities to be incorporated without voter approval[3]. In 1918 Jaguars football team played its only game outside of South Carolina before returning home to play their next game against Northwest Missouri State University on November 17th in Jackson’s Memorial Stadium which they eventual won 41-0 after playing all day long and scoring over 240 points... The Jaguars also compiled an undefeated 3-0 record that season against local high school teams; this included shutouts of Daniels High School (38-0) and Indian Hill High School (43-0).[4][5] In 1932 Jaxson Womens Soccer Club fielded their maiden ever match against rival Bentonvillearsity soccer club who were then coached by future NFL player/coach Jerry Kramer who led his team to victory 4 goals from open play... This win helped solidify Bentonville’s claim as “the most powerful soccer team in America”[6][7] eventually leading them to reach the semi-finals where they faced off against eventual champions Stroudsburg but lost 2 goals after extras gave them the chance to score more but instead took one point away from their opponents giving them an 0-2 loss which still stands as one of Jacksonville’s greatest upsets ever... In 1936 Jones opened his own grocery store located at 227 S Jefferson Street run under his name until he sold it years later[8][9] which helped start downtown development and bring much needed life back into what had been once little more than farmland nestled between two large mountains
