The history of the Shooter's Gift Museum in Hot Springs, Arkansas can be traced back to 1912. At that time, a local gunsmith named W. H. Dickey began creating and selling firearms as part of his business operation, Dickey's Firearms and Ammunition Shop. One of the early customers at Dickey's was a man named O.D. Kerr who purchased several handguns from the shop. Soon after, other customers started requesting similar products from Dickey's, culminating in the establishment of the Shooter's Gift Museum in 1912. The museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Arkansas and has been featured on various national television programs such as "Gunshow" and "Armorama". The museum features over 350 firearms including pistols, shotguns, rifles and machine guns! The museum also contains an extensive collection of ammunition including rounds from both pre-war America and World War II Europe.

Hot Springs, Arkansas is located in the Ozarks of western Arkansas. The population was 5,316 at the 2010 census. Hot Springs is a small town on the Little Rock–Fayetteville metropolitan area border and it straddles the Pee Dee River. The first human to live in what is now Hot Springs was Johannes Gutenberg, who invented movable type in 1440. In 1871, General John Walker founded Camp Bowie near what is now downtown Hot Springs and built a trading post named for his son-in-law, General George Biddle. In 1895, Willie Dixon recorded his song "All That I Need" at the Fort Smith Hotel in Hot Springs. This event helped make Hot Springs known as a popular tourist destination. The hotel burned down in 1951 but was rebuilt and renamed the Renaissance Center later that year. During World War II, various military installations were established around Hot Springs including Fort Riley (1943), Hitts Barracks (1945), and Singing Waters Army Airfield (1946). The first motel in what is now Hot Spring was called Rambler Inn from 1907 through 1912 while other structures such as churches and hospitals were added over time. By 1913 there were more than 30 buildings within one block of downtown with an enrollment of 1,500 people total! In 1922 local businessman Fenton Eaves started a water company which became central to hot springs culture and economy until eventually being shuttered by government regulation in 1967 due to arsenic levels above safe limits set by federal officials during the early 21st century pollution crisis across many U S cities experiencing high levels of arsenic contamination from coal ash utility sites
