George Mickelson and Hiram Mickelson whose heirs continue to own large tracts within east Bartlett Canyon today since their death in 1935 or so). Although Apache managed these lands they never openhandedly ceded them outright like many other Arizonan tribes did over subsequent centuries especially after conflicts began over new territorial acquisitions made following California Gold Rush era ..
