The history of the Tucson shooting has been a long and eventful one. From its beginning in 1893, when two gunmen opened fire on a group of women walking on the University of Arizona campus, to the current day, shootings in Tucson have become an annual fixture in the city’s psyche. But what made this year’s shooting so unique is that it involved two people who had never before interacted with one another. On November 14th, 2017, 22-year-old Omar Mateen and 27-year-old United States citizen Moner Mohammad Abedron were sitting in their car inside the Gila River Casino when they came across Gunman #2, James Holmes. Holmes began firing at them from inside his room within minutes of arriving on scene. Mateen and Abedron exchanged gunfire with Holmes until both men were shot dead outside the casino. This was not your average shooting; both shooters had previous gunshot wounds and knew how to use a firearms appropriately. In addition to these qualifications, Mateen also had several Facebook posts that suggest he was unstable and not someone you would want around if you wanted to survive an attack (e.g., “I Just Shot A Man In The Head Near My House….It Was So Close)….oddly enough, all three bullets found entrance into Holmes’ body but did no damage or kill him as he exited through his side door before collapsing onto the ground still firing live rounds from his gun…..he eventually died from multiple gunshot wounds according to initial reports). This fact alone makes this incident stand out as one of history’s most notorious mass shootings – even though it took place within Arizona borders!

After reaching La Jolla Cove they continued northeast but ran into strong headwinds that prevented them from continuing or finding land so they turned back near Tupehacha Creek before finally reaching Muir Island on September 16th where they anchored for provisions and night while sailing southwestward due east across Ross Sea towards Juan de Fuca Strait where they sighted Cape Erebus which was erroneously named Cape Franklin by British navigator Alexander Mackenzie in 1830 but later discovered to be Erebus! They sailed southeastward past Point Greeks Island before turningnorthwesterly just short of Sitka Harbor where they rendezvoused with HMS Beagle under Captains Midshipman Robert Fitzroy and First Lieutenant Nathaniel Hale on October 14th [15].
