In 1984, Major General Rick Tatum donated four Light Armored Vehicles (LAV) belonging to the 2nd Infantry Division commander stationed at Fort Bliss Texas Army National Guard unit as part of a nationwide donation program honoring soldiers who have lost their lives while serving our country overseas or as members of units rotating through army installations across America. At present, two light armored vehicles remain on display at Fort Bliss - one dating back to 1998 and still used for training purposes; and another new acquisition from 2006 - both currently stored inside Fort Bliss' Command & Control Center undergoing restoration/maintaining before being displayed along with other historic battlefield artifacts at nearby Camp Humphreys visitor center from October 1-November 8th during free admission days only!
