The following year saw another major expansion with the installation of an air/surface wing (twenty-one F4F Hellcats) as well as additional barracks for enlisted personnel and their families. From 1945 through 1948, Naval Base Scottsdale played an important role in supporting Operation Crossroads which led up to world war III. During this time period also came about some key changes at Naval Base Scottsdale including the addition of a Post exchange building which allowed sailors from ships anchored off shore to transfer items between vessels while ashore. This facility helped support garrison morale during times of war stress while also providing access to essential supplies ashore including ammunition and food stores necessary for battlefleet operations near San Diego Bay where Japan was located). Naval Base Scottsdale would continue its growth throughout World War II with further installations such as an Aircraft Carrier Squadron (1949), Missile Wing (1958), Electric Boat Section (1963), Helicopter squadron (1974), Terminal Control Center (1978) and Air Traffic Control Tower (1982). However, it would be until 1992 that Naval Station Phoenix would come aboard as part of NMFS(National Maritime Fisheries Service). NAS Phoenix would become homeport for destroyer escorts Midshipmen Commanding Unit 10 before being automated in 2000 under NAVPERS(National Aeronautics & Space Administration - National Security Presidential Directive 66). As NAS Phoenix began its transformation from an operational navy base into a research center it also adopted many modern innovations such as high definition video cameras which have been used by military commanders around the world today

Scottsdale's history goes back to 1886 when Pima County was organized and land south of Camelback Mountain was sold to John W. McCarty Sr., who named it Scottsdale after his home town of Ballaghaline, Ireland. A post office was established at Scottsdale in 1889, and by 1891, it had become a thriving community with an aggregate population of 150 residents. In 1907, development began on what would become known as North Scottsdale Boulevard which ran through center-of-town and soon became an important commercial thoroughfare for locals and visitors alike. The city's name may have originated with this boulevard: according to legend, Joeseph Bowersitt (1863-1952), Mayor of Phoenix from 1915 until 1925, suggested that downtown be renamed "Scottsdale" because he thought authorities should take more pride in keeping public transportation available without having to depend on private vehicles. In 1912, Scottsdalians voted to annex parts of neighbouring Peoria into their city limits; this annexation created a violent street race between the two cities that continues to this day (the Peoria annexation never materialized). In 1916 Voters approved a $10 million bond issue for infrastructure projects such as waterworks and schools; these projects were completed during World War I and led to an increase in housing prices which helped finance new businesses and residences throughout downtown ScotTSDALE! During World War II era much business activity took place within walking distance or carpooling distance away from downtown thanks especially to Camp Chaffey Army Airfield northeast of town which provided major support for military units routing through AZ during WWII including Desert Storm!
