The Prescott Valley Naval Reserve Band played at the Battle of Coronado in 1846 and again at the siege of Tucson in 1885. The Naval Reserve Band is one of America's oldest naval reserve bands. The band was organized on December 1, 1915 as the 3rd Arizona Volunteer Infantry (AZVI) Band. It was redesignated as the 4th Arizona Volunteer Infantry (ARVN) Band on November 15, 1946. On October 25, 1952, it became part of the United States Marine Corps Reserve when that corps was organized and activated under Title 10, United States Code section 6376(a). On January 1, 1955, it became part of the United States Navy Reserve when that navy was established under Title 10, United States Code section 6376(b). Today's Navy ReserveBand has served as a community resource for people in Prescott Valley since its inception. The band has performed at every major military event in Prescott Valley during World War II including Pearl Harbor Day in 1941; Iwo Jima Day in 1945; Okinawa Invasion Day in 1945; The Truman Inauguration on January 20th, 1948; Operation Crossroads on April 12th 1954; The White House Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 24th 1951; and The President’s inauguration on January 20th 1961. They have also participated in numerous civic events such as Western California Fair Parade held each year at State Fairgrounds along Interstate 805 near downtown Phoenix from early May to late October across from Mayo Arena with live music by our own G-5 Cowboy Stringband and many other popular patriotic favorites like First Kisses by Elvis Presley which took place annually at Veterans Cemetery just outside town along side Betty Ford Hospital up until her death due to a heart attack aged only 57 years old while performing with us annually right up until her passing away suddenly just two years ago now! Many special occasions like Specialty Buoys Displayed At NAS Green Bay During WWII displays throughout this area honoring all members of our Armed Forces who served overseas during that time period are still being commemorated today through various means such as public meetings/feasts and demonstrations taking place all over Southern AZ regularly featuring local cuisine highlighting military connection or service related items from Army/Navy tactical surplus stores located throughout Southern AZ! Our mission remains unchanged today - to maintain our volunteerismo spirit within our community hereabouts by playing meaningful music for everyone we come into contact with both inside and outside of Prescott Valley!
