They servediana beans, then ground them and packaged them as small cans of coffee. The first small batch coffee company was called White Rock Coffee Company and it operated out of a local grocery store. The Whitakers sold their business to JB Sulloway in 1977. In 1984, John Couch purchased White Rock Coffee Company and changed its name to Arizona Small Batch Coffee Company. Arizona Small Batch Coffee Company continued to produce small batch coffee until 1996 when it merged with another smallbatch company, Big Mountain Coffee, creating the Big Mountain-Arizona Small Batch Coffee Company. Payson is a small town in the Apache County of Arizona. The population was 5,859 at the 2010 census. With its mission to maintain a sense of community and traditional country life, Payson has been an important center for cultural expression in the area for over 100 years. The town's namesake, Payson Indian Reservation, lies just outside of town on the edge of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Payson post office was established in 1865, and became operational two years later. In 1868, John Wesley Powell reached Payson from Prescott on his way to discover Lake Powell. At first glance, it seems unlikely that such a small town could have seen so much activity during America's early days as one which does not even appear on historical maps created until after 1920. This may be due to its location within what is now known as Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale (PMS) metropolitan Statistical Area since that time period; however, during this timeframe there were significant changes taking place throughout Arizona including adjacent counties newly annexed from neighboring Mexico - these annexations formed MSA areas when PMS was created in 1990). Today's residents can attest to how active their community must have been during those early days by recounting some of the earliest memories or events which took place hereabouts: In 1868 local prospector Charles Goodyear discovered gold near present day Payson while exploring nearby Coconino National Forest; this led to numerous other discoveries and helped make Payson one of Arizona's most notable towns during its early years. By 1870 Gadsden resident Augustus Tilton had organized a group of pioneers who dubbed themselves "The Pioneers" and began building homes near today’s Main Street Adobe Store while also cultivating land around what is now Old Town Square; they erected Fort Dearborn circa 1871 before finally moving into permanent buildings around 1888 following purchase of 1/4 mile eastward from current Main Street at what is still today termed Pioneer Square. By 1880 all but six residents lived inside city limits with only one family remaining living outside city limits on Indian Springs Ranch north of Main Street - all residents worked either within or around downtown for subsistence purposes providing goods and services needed by both men and women alike including laundry service (the first commercial laundry service ever operated in Maricopa County), grocery shopping, doctoring services etc.; business license fees were collected from businesses located within City Limits; water supply came initially from Wells Fargo pipeline then developed into own chlorination plant & pumping station – main street Waterworks opened Sept 1913 continuing operations until dismantled in 1969 along with associated systems & infrastructure following countywide water privatization." Payson, Arizona is the largest city in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 813 at the 2010 census. It is located on a hillock overlooking the Gila River. The original town of Payson was founded in 1885 by miner and rancher George W. Parkman and his wife, Emma Hanks Parkman. The name "Payson" comes from an Apache word meaning "place where there are many trees." The first post office in what is now Payson was established in 1887. In 1912, the community became part of Mexican territory after a plebiscite resulted in 99 percent voting to become part of Mexico. When America gained independence from Mexico in 1912, the U.S., recognizing that Mexican land held by Mexico had not been ceded to America as agreed upon, levied tariffs against Mexican goods imported into America until 1913 when this practice ended with new Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ceded all land west of the Rio Grande back to Mexico including Payson and its adjacent townships and villages ( See also: History of Tucson).
