King, who was an early settler here and founded the first post office in 1886. This company was responsible for building many of the city’s landmarks including The Tribune Building (now part of Desert View Resort), Gila River Bridge (now closed), and several other buildings downtown today. Custer Sells also developed some of Kingman’s most significant agricultural land including much of what is now irrigated farmland on East Mesa Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue NW today. During World War II, Kingsmen served both sides with distinction during WWII – serving as infantry soldiers before being drafted into the military Air Force afterwards; they are also credit for helping develop Phoenix into an international center for aviation industry after the war). AfterWWII, many residents left or were forced to leave their homes due to various social changes taking place throughout America during that time period such as McCarthyism and desegregation movements across Arizona like those happening at Phoenix State Colleges etc.; however, few people left completely – many moved out west to become farmers or ranchers after retiring from service within Phoenix or moving away from all aspects of life back home during these difficult times (quite an accomplishment given howPhoenix had changed since then).
