The Florence, Arizona Army National Guard was activated on October 1, 1912. The unit was redesignated the Arizona Infantry on November 15, 1912. On December 12, 1916 the unit was redesignated the Arizona Cavalry and organized into a regiment. The regiment was redesignated as the Phoenix Infantry Company A on January 1, 1947. Company A disbanded on May 15, 1948 and its members were merged with Company B to form Battalion C of the Phoenix Infantry Regiment which later evolved into an infantry battalion in 1951.
Florence, Arizona is a small town located in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 1,495 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
