Eloy, Arizona is a small town in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona. It was founded in 1870 by Don Alberto García and his family. The community became a cattle ranching town, and Eloy became an agricultural center during the late 19th century. In 1935, Eloy became an incorporated city after passage of the Municipal Code. The first coffee beans were grown in this community in 1881. By 1915, there were over 100 coffee growers operating out of Eloy. Coffee production continued to grow throughout World War II because of the need for military intelligence resources located near Tucson and Phoenix. In 1959, ELOY CITY COUNCIL voted to annex towns of Pima and Marana counties as part of their growth strategy for the area. This move increased population density in what was then a rural area outside Los Angeles County. The annexation brought about changes to local government including more elected officials who could better serve residents’ needs; it also increased access to education and other amenities for those living in annexed areas. Today, Eloy has a diverse economy withPrimary crops being grapes, citrus fruits, vegetables, alfalfa hay, wheat berries and livestock feed; primary industry employs about 60% of the workforce while services account for another 30%. Located on Route 66 just east of downtown Phoenix proper (the original route), Eloy is home to numerous shopping malls (including one called "The mall at elroy"), movie theaters (including Regal Cinema), art galleries (including one called "Studio One", which features high-quality contemporary art) as well as restaurants serving up everything from Mexican food to fine dining Italian cuisine

The Placer Dome mine closed in 1984 but reopened in 2006 as part of an agreement between Pinal County and Agua Fria Copper Mines LLC to continue extracting copper from nearby hillsides. The mine has had negative environmental effects as well as social problems because of mercury emissions from operations and acid rain caused by mining activities

Eloy is an Arizona city located in El Paso County, about north of Phoenix. The population was 8,569 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of El Paso County. The first people to live in what is now Eloy were the Pima and Apache nations. One account says they came there because they could not find a place tognu (a type of corn) on their traditional reservation near Tucson. They built a hogan here and started a small town that would become one of the most important cities in Arizona during its early years as a territory of Mexico. The town was named for General Antonio López de Santa Anna, who helped lead Mexican forces against American forces in 1847-48 during the Mexican-American War. Mexico ceded California to America following that war, and Santa Anna was given responsibility for administering western Arizona Territory under Ulysses S. Grant's supervision This area became part of modern Eloy when it was included within the newly created state of Arizona on February 14, 1912 In 1912, development began along what is now Seventh Street in downtown Eloy with construction beginning on what is now known as "The Gables" hotel which opened its doors on December 12, 1912 In 1916, The Gables was destroyed by fire which also destroyed many other businesses including Jardín Agua Fria flour mill and Casa Grande Hotel In 1922, The Gables building again burned down but this time it did not cause any loss because insurance had already been purchased . On October 1st 1935, Post office moved from its original location at 5th & Central Streets to what is now Fourth Street just east of Seventh Street After more than 100 years living as separate towns within one county (and five different governors), both towns amalgamated into one city on January 1st 1978 after voters approved Measure 2 which proposed splitting off neighboring MesaCounty into two separate entities known as Desert View and Glendale so that resources could be better expended based upon population growth patterns over time
