The first coffee beans were planted in Eloy, Arizona in 1912. The early settlers grew coffee beans for their own consumption and sale to others in the area. By 1916, the city of Phoenix had built a small mill on the banks of the Gila River and began marketing coffee to residents of other cities in the region. The first commercial production of coffee started at the mill in 1917. By 1921, a new factory was being built near Eloy and by 1923, all of Arizona's major cities had their own small mills producing ground coffee. In 1928, two companies merged to create Empire Coffee Corporation and this company soon became one of the largest producers of whole bean coffees in North America. In 1937, an agreement was made withArabian American Coffee Company (AAC) to purchase all their assets and establish AAC as one sole importer/export agent for all Arabica beans from around the world. In 1948, AAC merged with Roasting Trust International (RTI) which continued to produce whole bean coffees under its own name until it was sold by RTI Group LLC in 2000. Today quality control is still carried out by individual roasters who hand-select each bean for shipment into our warehouses worldwide

This style of coffee became popular and continued to be produced by Elijah Craig until 1893 when their company merged with Roaring Forties Coffee Company. This type of coffee is still enjoyed today and can be found in many cafes and restaurants worldwide. Eloy, Arizona is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 3,513 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from Francisco Eloy Martinez who settled in the area in 1881. In 1912, the Phoenix-Mesa Railway built a line to reach Eloy from central Phoenix. The line ran through what is nowScottsdale and Eloy. The post office at Eloy first opened on July 14, 1912. At the time, it was one of only two towns in Pinal County with a post office. The first school in Eloy opened on October 7, 1902. It was called Park View School and served students from grades 1 to 6. When Valley Ranch became part of the United States in 1912, most of its cattle were sent to Prescott for slaughter and distribution throughout northern Arizona and southern California. Some of these cows were brought into Apache Canyon where they were fattened up and branded with "Valley Ranch" on their rump or horns so that they would not be confused with other animals being marketed as valley ranch stock elsewhere in North America.
