When Camp Verde Coffee was founded in 1993, it was the first small batch coffee shop in Arizona. The store quickly became known for its unique and flavorful coffee. Visitors from all over came to try the beans and taste the results of our passionate roasting process. There has been coffee production in Camp Verde, Arizona for over a century. The first coffee beans were grown on the property of Mr. and Mrs. Holt in 1916. In 1927, the Holt family sold their land to the Waddell brothers who began growing coffee Hereford and Brazilian Robusta. By 1933, they had doubled the size of their farm and began shipping beans all over the United States. By 1938, they had opened a shop on Main Street and became one of the leading Colorado Coffee roasters. Theodore Roosevelt International Airport was built in 1957 which led to more businesses moving to Camp Verde including Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and Peet's Coffee Company which moved its plant from Denver to Camp Verde in 1992. The population of Camp Verde grew rapidly during this time with many new businesses opening up around town including a grocery store, restauraunt and a library/museum complex which is now home to the Chandler Museum of Art & History

Camp Verde, Arizona is a summer camp located in the Phoenix metropolitan area. It was founded in 1927 by superintendent of public instruction John P. Sweeny and his wife, Gertrude. The first year it had just sixty students. By 1933, it had grown to 1,200 students and became an all-male camp with a full board and income of $10,000 per year. In 1933–34, Camp Verde also opened its own schoolhouse which was used for classes during the summers. In 1941 Camp Verde became an all-female camp with 375 girls and $2,500 per year in income from tuition fees and room and board. Girls were admitted at age 10 while boys were admitted at 12 years old. In 1957 Camp Verde became coeducational with 833 girls and an annual budget of $40,000 which included tuition fees, room & board, physical education expenses (including soccer/football games), maintenance costs (such as lighting & bathrooms), plus gifts from alumni or friends. With the opening of Hartnell Stadium in 1961 CampVerde began sponsoring football games against nearby schools such as Tempe High School (now Tempe Union High School) on their campus where they played their final game on September 25th won by 16 points over eventual champions Scottsdale High School who had finished second in that season’s league standings behind only Glendale Northridge HS! This rivalry continued until Tempe Union moved to Scottsdale in 1984! The first headmistress of Camp Verde was Mrs Louise Buckley who served from 1934 until her retirement in 1958 then Mrs Florence Laughlin took over until her death June 1958; both women were tireless volunteers who worked tirelessly helping to oversee the many activities offered at CampVerde including music directorhip for the marching band; tennis coaching for children aged 7 through 11 years old; Physical Education Directorhips including Cross Country running; recitation events for grades 3 through 6th grade classrooms each week; drama productions each season culminating with a semi-final performance on Saturday night before homecoming weekend; fund raising events such as bake sales/pizza parties throughout the summer months as well as car wash days during winter months when necessary; special occasions like Presidents Day (November 3rd) or Memorial Day (May 30th) when patriotic themed programs were offered.; . . . On July 5th 1960 Gertrude Sweeny died suddenly after seventy years service toCampVerde followed by Superintendent John P Sweeny Jr whotook over directorship until his untimely death on October 2nd 1966 leaving Gertrude’s widow Mrs Fenton Sweeny to continue leadership until her retirement effective December 1967 Although she did not serve out formal retirement age she retired due to ill health on February 10th 1971 after serving forty five years! On January 1st 1978 Mrs Fenton Sweeny passed away due to natural causes following a long illness which began two weeks earlier when she suffered a stroke while taking care of her mother following her mother’s funeral services held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church attended by many representatives from local businesses including several members of Congress along with Governor Peabody Sunsongenberger!!! AfterMrs Fenton Sweeny’s funeral services there was much mourning as no one knew what would become ofcampverdes future without her!!! Today almost fifty nine years later ParkVerde continues providing funfilled summer experiences for youngsters ages 9 – 18yrs old regardless gender or race making it oneof America’s largest publicly funded summer camps surpassing even Stonington Island Naval Base camps near Providence RI!!!!!

It is also home to the Arizona Native American Museum which features exhibits on the history of the Pima-Maricopa tribe and their relationship to the U.S. government.
