The Air Force has been gifting gift baskets and other items to Camp Verde for many years now. The tradition began back in the early days of the Air Force when cadets were given a small box filled with supplies, such as food, water, and ammunition. These boxes would be passed down through the ranks, and eventually given to members of the air force family. It wasn’t until World War II that gift baskets started becoming larger in scale. Large gift baskets were made for commanders of bases all over the country. This was because these commanders could give gifts to their troops on an individual basis instead of giving them a large basket full of supplies. Today, there are several different types of gift baskets that can begiven to members of the air force family at Camp Verde. Some examples include: catered lunches with drinks and snacks; movie nights; visitations from visiting officers or support staff; personalized cakes or cupcakes; and much more!
